For centuries, the plants of the Amazon have served Indigenous communities as natural remedies for a wide range of ailments.

his entry is the second part of a series where you’ll find the most frequently asked questions about three extraordinary plant resins and oils: Copaiba, Capirona, and Dragon’s Blood (Sangre de Drago)-explored both on a physical and spiritual level.

What is Capirona?

A tree of the Amazon with extraordinary, self-peeling bark.
The oil extracted from its leaves and bark works as a natural plant-based antiseptic.

Physical properties of Capirona

  • Firms, tones, and supports cell renewal

Spiritual properties of Capirona

  • Helps work with inner truth and clarity

How to use Capirona

External use:

  • As a cleansing toner for facial skin
  • Added to masks and creams (especially for oily, acne-prone, or fungus-prone skin)
  • As a stand-alone mask-apply a layer on the skin, let it dry, then rinse off
  • For skin and nail fungal infections-apply topically, preferably after cleaning the area
  • On minor cuts and abrasions-promotes healing and works antibacterial
  • For massage on areas prone to cellulite or scarring

Use in spiritual practices

  • Can be used before ceremonies or cleansing processes (e.g., rapé, plant dieta)
  • Rubbing into the body (especially hands, neck, chest) before ceremonies or cleansing rituals
  • May be used ritually during life transitions (e.g., ending a relationship, moving, changing jobs) to symbolically and energetically cleanse the “field”

What does scientific research say about Capirona?

1. Antifungal and antibacterial action
Research conducted in Peru showed that extracts from Capirona bark have strong antifungal activity against Candida albicans and antibacterial action against Gram-positive bacteria.

2. Antioxidant properties
Compounds in Capirona (including phenols and flavonoids) act as antioxidants, which may help slow skin aging and protect cells.

3. Regenerative and cytoprotective effects
In vitro studies suggest that Capirona extracts may have cytoprotective properties, supporting the natural regeneration of skin cells.

Contraindications and precautions

  • Not recommended for oral use without the guidance of someone experienced in working with Amazonian plants
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding-insufficient safety data
  • Avoid if allergic to tropical plants or with skin hypersensitivity
  • Do not apply to deep wounds without dilution
  • For very dry skin-use with a carrier oil, as it may have an astringent effect
  • For internal use-monitor digestive response (may have a laxative effect)

Can Capirona be combined with Bobinsana?

Yes-this combination is possible and can be highly supportive both physically and spiritually.

How they work together:
Capirona cleanses-helping to shed old patterns, emotional layers, and physical and energetic toxins.
Bobinsana is a heart-plant-bringing gentleness, empathy, and deep emotional connection.

This pairing can be seen as a spiritual cleansing and opening to love-Capirona “creates space,” Bobinsana “fills the heart.”

How to use:

  • Alternating use: e.g., Capirona in the morning (facial toner, body oil), Bobinsana in the evening (extract, heart bath)
  • In spiritual practice: Capirona before a cleansing meditation, Bobinsana for emotional work, heart chakra opening, and relationship connection
  • As part of a plant dieta-best with proper guidance, as both have strong energetic presence

The two plants have different characters-Capirona is bright and raw, Bobinsana tender and deep. Keep space to feel each one individually.

Can Capirona be combined with Ajos Sacha?

Yes-although their actions differ, their combination can support those working with the body, intuition, and energetic cleansing.

How they work together:
Capirona purifies the surface-skin, emotions, energetic layers.
Ajos Sacha works deeper-cutting toxic connections, supporting spiritual protection, and clarity of perception.

This combination works well with the intention of protection, clarity, and energetic reset.

How to use:

  • In energetic cleansing processes: Capirona in the morning (oil, toner), Ajos Sacha in the evening (extract, anointing energy points)
  • In protection rituals: Capirona for cleansing the space (e.g., rubbing into hands, feet), Ajos Sacha as a “protective seal” (drop behind the ears, on the neck)
  • They can be used before and after working with other plants-e.g., Capirona prepares the body, Ajos Sacha closes and strengthens boundaries

Both plants are strongly energetic-recommended for those with prior experience working with jungle plants.

Ajos Sacha has a very distinctive, intense aroma-test your reaction to its scent.
